2017 Quintarelli ‘Secco Ca’del Merlo’ Bianco

30yr old avg vines. Garganega, Trebbiano Toscano, Sauvignon Bianco, Chardonnay, Saorin. Pressed immediately, 12 hour cold soak – some skin contact but not much – then regular battonage for texture. A thoroughly well-rounded wine whose elegant, bight notes of citrus, lemongrass and orchard fruit have a depth and complexity to them only found in the world’s greatest white wines. Penetrating aromas of grilled lemon, citrus blossom, savory herbs, green and yellow apple, pear, and black salt emanate from the glass making for a wine whose aromas seriously compete for top marks with its flavors. Not lacking in structure, a serious backbone of saline minerality and slight tannins build a broad platform on which the flavors  perform to standing ovation.
