A Taste of the Future
2019 Arnot Roberts Rose
A seriously delicious rose for all seasons representing the growing class of winemakers representing the New California (and elsewhere in the world) style of wine. Breaking from the recent trend of big, bold, opulent wines many of a new generation of wine drinkers are turning to lighter, fresher varieties more suited to the hot, arid climate of California’s traditional winegrowing regions. 100% Touriga Nacional, the preferred grape of Portugal’s Douro River Valley, is well suited for the warm California summers. This warm weather grape is produced naturally, vinified in stainless steel to highlight the beautiful natural flavors of the grapes. Refreshing notes of watermelon, lemon zest, cucumber-mint water, and hints of basil hang with the perfect slothfulness of a summer’s afternoon from a firm backbone of mouthwatering acidity. Considering the projected increase in temperatures over the next fifty years, if the future of California wine looks like this then I don’t think the Golden State need worry much.
